Hampir Terlambat Siswa SMA di Siantar Diselamatkan Usai Berupaya Bunuh Diri karena Beban Biaya Sekolah

Seorang siswa Sekolah Menengah Atas (SMA) inisial ARGYS, 19 tahun, nekat melakukan aksi percobaan bunuh diri di Jalan Gereja, Kelurahan Kristen, Kecamatan Siantar Selatan, Kota Pematangsiantar, tepatnya di depan Cafe Blue Diamond, pada Minggu (23/2/2025).

Kapolsek Siantar Selatan Iptu Priston Simbolon mengatakan siswa salah satu sekolah SMA yang berada di Kota Pematangsiantar yang merupakan warga Jalan Rambutan Pasar Rangka, Kecamatan Marpoyan Damai, Kota Pekan Baru, Provinsi Riau. “Pelajar tersebut mencoba lakukan bunuh diri dengan cara menyayat lengan tangan sebelah kirinya menggunakan sebilah pisau, gara-gara frustasi memikirkan biaya sekolah,” jelasnya, pada Senin (24/2/2025).

Lanjut Priston, saat diamankan di Polsek Siantar Selatan, pelajar tersebut melakukan pengobatan luka gores sedikit di lengan tangan kirinya. “Kita berikan himbauan dan membuat surat pernyataan agar tidak mengulangi perbuatannya lagi. Kemudian dilakukan pemanggilan terhadap keluarganya,” ucapnya.

Ia menambahkan pelajar itu diserahkan kepada abang kandungnya Mario Greganus Siahaan yang datang ke Polsek Siantar Selatan untuk dibawa pulang.”Pelajar tersebut sudah diserahkan kepada keluarga untuk dibawa pulang,” kata Priston mengakhiri. 

Kasus ini juga menjadi pengingat betapa pentingnya perhatian terhadap kesehatan mental pelajar, terutama di tengah tekanan ekonomi yang semakin berat. Psikolog anak dan remaja, Dr. Rina Sitorus, menekankan bahwa orang tua dan lingkungan sekitar harus lebih peka terhadap perubahan perilaku anak. “Depresi pada remaja seringkali tidak terlihat jelas. Mereka butuh dukungan emosional dan ruang untuk bercerita tanpa merasa dihakimi,” jelasnya.
