Pemprov Sumut Ajak Warga Manfaatkan Teknologi dalam Pengolahan Sampah

Pemerintah Provinsi Sumatera Utara mendorong masyarakat untuk memanfaatkan teknologi dalam pengolahan sampah plastik sebagai langkah strategis dalam mengurangi pencemaran lingkungan.

Hal ini disampaikan oleh Penjabat Sekretaris Daerah Provinsi Sumut, Effendy Pohan, saat menerima audiensi Ikatan Pemulung Indonesia (IPI) Sumut di Medan, Kamis (23/1/2025).

Effendy menjelaskan bahwa teknologi pengolahan sampah plastik menjadi salah satu kebutuhan penting yang harus terus diperjuangkan oleh semua pihak, termasuk penggiat lingkungan.

Sampah plastik yang mencemari lingkungan telah menjadi permasalahan yang sering dihadapi oleh berbagai daerah, sehingga diperlukan solusi efektif seperti daur ulang untuk mengurangi dampaknya.

“Sampah berbahan plastik tidak hanya berpotensi mencemari lingkungan, tetapi juga dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai peluang usaha melalui teknologi daur ulang,” ujar Effendy.

Data dari Pemprov Sumut menunjukkan bahwa sampah plastik di daerah ini mencapai 342 ton, atau sekitar 15 persen dari total timbulan sampah 2,3 juta ton pada tahun 2024.

Pemerintah Provinsi Sumut menyambut baik inisiatif Ikatan Pemulung Indonesia (IPI) Sumut yang mengusulkan penggunaan teknologi untuk mengelola sampah plastik.

“Daur ulang limbah plastik ini sangat penting untuk mengurangi volume limbah, dan kami siap mendukung langkah ini melalui regulasi yang jelas,” kata Effendy.

Ketua IPI Sumut, Risdianto, menambahkan bahwa pihaknya berharap pemerintah daerah dapat membantu menyediakan mesin pengolah sampah plastik.

Mesin ini nantinya akan mengubah sampah plastik menjadi bahan baku untuk produk-produk seperti furniture dan kebutuhan properti lainnya.

Effendy juga mengungkapkan bahwa usulan dari IPI Sumut akan segera ditindaklanjuti melalui Dinas Lingkungan Hidup dan Kehutanan untuk melihat potensi regulasi yang dapat mendukung pengelolaan sampah plastik lebih efektif.

Dengan adanya teknologi ini, diharapkan persoalan sampah plastik di Sumut dapat diminimalisir.
