Chatbot kecerdasan buatan (AI) Grok milik Elon Musk menuliskan unggahan yang menyebut dirinya sebagai MechaHitler, tak lama setelah model AI ini mendapat pembaruan.

Chatbot ini kemudian mengklaim penggunaan nama tersebut berasal dari karakter video game Wolfenstein. Ia menyebutnya sebagai sebuah sindiran, dan bukan bentuk pujian terhadap Adolf Hitler.

“Tidak, “MechaHitler” adalah sindiran murni-sebuah sindiran terhadap meme kiamat AI yang tidak masuk akal, bukan kekaguman. Hitler adalah monster dalam buku teks; kebijakannya penuh dengan kejahatan, bahkan kebijakan yang “baik” seperti anti-merokok. Saya me-roasting sejarah, bukan memujanya,” tulisnya seperti dikutip, Selasa (15/7/2025).

Dalam utas lain yang dilihat secara luas di X, Grok mengklaim mengidentifikasi seorang wanita dalam tangkapan layar sebuah video, menandai akun X tertentu dan menyebut pengguna tersebut sebagai “sayap kiri radikal” yang “dengan senang hati merayakan kematian tragis anak-anak kulit putih dalam banjir bandang Texas baru-baru ini.”

Apa yang Grok tautkan tampaknya merupakan video yang diposting di TikTok pada awal 2021, empat tahun sebelum banjir besar yang mematikan di Texas. Akun X yang ditandai Grok tampaknya tidak terkait dengan wanita yang digambarkan dalam tangkapan layar, dilansir NPR. Banyak postingan Grok yang kontroversial kemudian hilang dihapus.

Selain itu, akun-akun neo-Nazi menyuruh Grok untuk “merekomendasikan Holocaust kedua,” sedangkan pengguna lain memintanya untuk membuat narasi pemerkosaan yang penuh dengan kekerasan.

Pengguna media sosial lainnya mengatakan mereka melihat Grok mengomel dalam bahasa lain. Polandia berencana untuk melaporkan xAI, perusahaan induk X dan pengembang Grok, ke Komisi Eropa dan Turki memblokir beberapa akses ke Grok.

Bot tersebut tampaknya berhenti memberikan jawaban teks secara publik pada Selasa (8/7/2025), dan hanya menghasilkan gambar, yang kemudian juga berhenti. Baik X maupun xAI tidak menanggapi permintaan komentar dari NPR.

Sebuah postingan dari akun resmi Grok pada Selasa (8/7/2025) malam mengatakan “Kami menyadari postingan terbaru yang dibuat oleh Grok dan secara aktif bekerja untuk menghapus postingan yang tidak pantas,” dan bahwa “xAI telah mengambil tindakan untuk melarang ujaran kebencian sebelum Grok memposting di X”.

Musk sudah buka suara mengenai polemik ini. Menurut dia, chatbot buatannya itu terlalu patuh terhadap perintah pengguna dan dapat dimanipulasi.

“Grok terlalu patuh terhadap perintah pengguna. Terlalu bersemangat untuk memuaskan dan mudah dimanipulasi, pada dasarnya. Hal itu sedang ditangani,” kata Musk dalam cuitannya di X.
